It is interesting to watch your clients take major steps to grow their business. USTelematics is a NetSuite website design we did earlier this year. They have some unique talking email devices and software that consumers are just starting to use. Products also include mobile TV and In Car Internet. So the products are for a unique audience since they are more high end, but this is the direction that consumer electronics is going.
USTelematics is starting to market themselves strongly because they begin Public Trading on the OTC Bulletin Board under Ticker Symbol UTLM. Details
They are doing this through Press Releases and the news wire. Now they are ramping up and getting some great coverage. External links have been popping up for their site almost every day in August. Yes, PR produces external links. External links are good for SEO. Duh! This is a new site and they do not have a page rank. Momentum and timing is key, even more so these days with SEO, plus anticipating the next page rank update. And the winner will be... the brand. Here is a great example of how the news of the company is getting picked up, click here.
Now as the web traffic improves on the site, we optimize the sales process paths. For instance, the homepage was driving a lot of people to the "about us" page. Mostly likely investors researching the company. So I added the featured product to the right column, driving more visitors to the item that is driving the brand - talking email. It is really true, the little things make the biggest difference. This is the best way to learn about your visitors and traffic trends.

Hi Alex... Nice work!!! I was wondering if you might have some SEO tips for spreading page rank throughout one's site? My company has a very basic Netsuite site, customers say it's very easy to navigate though. I'd jut like to place better in SERP's, any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks dave at http://www.deepsurplus.com/
Dave,
I will do a separate post all about this topic and use your site as an example with tips. Look for it shortly.

I receive a lot of email from developers and designers asking for help with their NetSuite Web Design. Usually it is a designer who is used to traditional web programming like PHP and CSS. Yet, NetSuite has a big learning curve so I try to help out when I can...

QUESTION:
I have a question for you maybe you could help me with. I'm not getting much help from the Netsuite Support folks.
I'm trying to redesign a website that's already in the Netsuite system with a new look, which will require me to change a whole bunch of code in different places (going from HTML3 to XHTML1/CSS).
I'd rather touch up all the pages already in the system than create everything from scratch. Is there a way to stage an existing website (netsuite system) and make all the necessary changes in the system with the availability of preview without affecting the way the live site looks right now?
ANSWER:
In NS, there is a section called "web site themes". You can create a new theme using your new code and design and then hit PREVIEW and it will open the site and allow you to do a staging server test environment without making the new site live yet.
QUESTION:
Thanks so much! I have 3 quick additional questions if you don't mind.
1. I cannot for the life of me find the code that is wrapping my main "left hand side" navigational items, which is basically Shop Categories and Sub Categories. I know the actual items get built out from Netsuite, but where do I find the HTML code that is wrapped around each navigational item (tr,td,classes, etc). Any ideas?
2. I have redesigned the client's entire website in table-less XHTML/CSS. Does Netsuite fully support this or am I SOL and gonna have to rewrite the code to work with some "wrapper" tables for major elements of the site?
3. Is there a good support community on Netsuite? I have registered for their message board, but do you know of any other communities with knowledgeable people?
You've been very helpful already!
ANSWER:
1. There should be a section called "Left Side Navigation Template" in Web Site Theme > Body. Click on the help for that section will show you have to add the code
2. NS still forces the main sections of the templates to be wrapped in tables. So I do 90% CSS and insert them in each of the table cells, example: http://www.utilitysafeguard.com/
3. The user group is the best community. It is much better than the NS support itself.
That url is: (You need to be an NS owner to get access)
https://usergroup.netsuite.com/users/index.php

This summer has just been crazy with new NetSuite Web Site Design projects. Below is a new one that just launched. It actually still need a lot of work, but the client just wanted to get it live and start the NetSuite SEO process. The site will take 30-90 days to get fully indexed in search engines anyway. Plus, they do majority of their business with eBay integration.
Here are some of the highlights of this NetSuite Web Site Design:

Here is a useful way to open multiple NetSuite browser windows in several Firefox tabs. Basically, using your LINK area Bookmarks in Firefox, just add the shortcuts to one folder, then after you login to NetSuite click the "Open in all tabs" link like below.

The result is the multiple NetSuite browser windows loading like this...

Pretty simple, but very useful when you are developing or designing NetSuite websites.

What a great idea! Thanks for this tip. When using NetSuite to design sites its pedantic doing all this manually.
