When another company buys your name in PPC advertising, you have really made it big!

Tuesday, October 2, 2007
I came across this the other day. Another company is buying my companies name in Google adwords and Yahoo. I guess we have made it big and the competition needs more work. The funniest part is that I know that company. It seems they need to spend money to get more clients, while we get all of our clients via word of mouth and natural search engine optimization. Hey guys, I can sell you some ad space on this site if your interested too!

You need to Trademark your company and protect it... if you leave unprotected too long it will become public domain and then where will you be?
Yea, I do have a trademark, so I guess I could contact Google/Yahoo and have them remove it legally. But really I think they are justing wasting their money here, since I do not do bid wars anyway. We take clients that are a good fit and majority of time by referral only.
Hey Alex,

The ad triggers because of NetSuite designs and not because of alex designs. Try with broad match the next time. :-)
Alex,

Come on - if you're talking about trademarks here, why are you using NetSuite in the name of your business? Clearly they own the mark on the NetSuite name, not you.

Competition is good. There is more than enough business to go around for all of us.

Keep up the good work.
Nobody is using NetSuite in the name of the business. This is simply a blog of site created for/with Netsuite software.

Looks like the ad popped up from "broad match" not keyword specific ads.
Right, also I have permission to use NetSuite brand on this site. Since we are promoting the use of the software and Alex Designs LLC is a partner of NS.

As SuiteCommerce said, they didnt but the keyword "Alex Designs", it showed up for broad match as that site is ranked well for NS related terms.

Competition is good for us. In the last 2 years the overall quality of NS generated web designs has really improved, including design and dev.
